NSAA Makes Changes At Meeting

There was big news made by the NSAA on Thursday. The boys and girls state high school basketball tournaments will remain in Lincoln the next five years, but how the Class C-1, C-2, D-1 and D-2 teams will qualify for those tourneys will be different. The NSAA will now use a sub-state format for Classes C1-D2.  Beginning next year, district tourneys will be replaced. The 12 subdistrict champions based geographically from across the state and the top four remaining schools in the state wild-card standings will advance to the district finals, which will be seeded based on wild-card points. The eight winners from the district finals will then earn the right to play in Lincoln.

In other news, the state dual wrestling tournament which has been held in Kearney was moved from the Saturday after the state individual-team championships to the Saturday before the district tournaments in early February.
