(AUDIO) Cub Cadet Junior Golf Program to be held next month

The 2nd Annual West Point-Beemer Cub Cadet Junior Golf Program will be held next month at Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer. Organizer/Instructor Keith Eriksen. “Yeah this is our 2nd year trying it. Last year was just kind of a trial run for us. And we ended up having 16 for turnout. Elementary aged kids. Which we felt like was a good start for kind of a last minute idea. We’re going to give it a go again this year. We’re looking at June 6th, 7th, 8th, and the following week…the 13th, 14th, and 15th.”

Eriksen says the program is for any surrounding area students going into 4th through 8th grade. The cost is $30 per golfer, or $50 for two golfers.

Transportation will be provided. “Yeah and with that transportation the school has offered to help out. So we will be departing from the Elementary Parking Lot at 12:45, and we will return approximately at 3:30.”

Eriksen says the West Point-Beemer Boys and Girls Golf teams will help provide instruction.

He adds kids should dress appropriately. “Yeah any type of just shorts, T-Shirts. We just ask that they don’t wear cutoffs or don’t wear any type of spiked shoes or sandals. It’s kind of difficult to make a proper golf swing in sandals. They just have to wear just regular everyday tennis shoes, shorts, and a T-Shirt is fine.”

Golf Clubs will be provided.

Register by emailing Eriksen at keriksen@wpcadets.org. The deadline is June 1st.
