Central Community College women’s basketball is pleased to announce the signing of Morgan Morgan, a 2018 graduate of Logan View High School.
Morgan says she’s very grateful for the opportunity. “Yeah I’ve always wanted to play basketball in college. Like for starters like I really just wanted to just focus on school, but as the season went on I was like I want to really continue this sport because I know I’m going to miss it. And so Coach Perkins said come play with us at Central Community College, and I took on the offer. And I’m excited.”
Morgan says Southeast and some schools further away were also looking at her, but CCC being close to home was a big factor in her decision to go there.
Morgan was a three-year starter for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and served as team captain during her senior season. She also played softball and was a homecoming queen nominee in 2017. Morgan also earned Academic All-State honors and was involved in Future Farmers of America.
She expects to see action at multiple positions for the Raiders.”I’m thinking probably guard or maybe play some point, but that’s really up to like what comes to the table for other girls cause I’m 5’8, 5’8 1/2, so I’m probably going to be shorter than most. He probably wants me out on the wing or point guard.”
Morgan will take part in the All-Star Softball Game in West Point in July.
“Morgan is a good athlete and student that is going to help us be more successful next year,” said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. “Her length and size is going to help us be more dynamic on the defensive end of the floor and help us expose mismatches on the offensive end. I am very excited about what the future holds for Morgan.”
Morgan says the co-op between Logan View and Scribner-Snyder was a positive experience for her. “All those other girls we had to give our leadership and strive through the end. And we did. Like 4 years of hard work paid off, especially combining with Scribner-Snyder because we needed the girls, and Kaylee Boyle was another top scorer of our game. And I think it was a good idea and it was a good choice for Logan View and Scribner-Snyder to combine.
Morgan averaged 4 points and 5 rebounds a game in her senior season with LVSS.
Morgan will major in biology at CCC. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Darci Morgan.
