Briar Cliff Women down Olivet Nazarene

The Briar Cliff women’s basketball team knocked off its second ranked opponent in as many days Saturday afternoon as they took down #18 Olivet Nazarene 84-78 in Chicago.

The Chargers led from start to finish but did let the Tigers come within three in the fourth quarter before pulling away for the win. Taylor Vasa scored the first basket of the game on her way to six points and 14 rebounds on the day. Logan Ehlers scored a career high 25 points and Alyssa Carley added 23 to lead BC. Ehlers also pulled down 13 rebounds. Anna Reifenrath and Taylor Wagner each chipped in 10 points. The Chargers shot 46% from the field, 39% from three-point range and 79% from the free throw line.

Jess Learned scored 15 points for Olivet Nararene. The Tigers were just 25-89 (28%) in field goal shooting, 11-53 in three-pointers (20%) and 17-23 from the charity stripe (74%).

BC held the edge in rebounds (61-46) and blocks (7-2). The Tigers had the advantage in steals with 19, compared to 16 for the Blue and Gold.

Briar Cliff is now 3-0 on the season and the Tigers fall to 0-3. The Chargers will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to #16 Jamestown for the first GPAC matchup of the season. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
