The Briar Cliff football team was scheduled to host three offensive line camp sessions this summer but those camps have now been combined to be on just two dates. The offensive line camps will now be held on June 23 and July 14 but both sessions are separate so a player wanted to go to both camps will have to register and pay for two sessions.
The camp will be for players entering 9th-12th grade and each session is limited to the first 70 campers. Each session costs $125 per camper if they pre-register or it is $140 day of if there are spots available. Equipment that each player is required to have is a helmet, shoulder pads, mouth piece, girdle pads, cleats and tennis shoes. The camp will be focused on improving offensive line play through line drills and fundamentals.
Campers will be coached by the Briar Cliff coaching staff, including head coach Dennis Wagner. Wagner earned multiple All-America honors during his collegiate playing career, starting with JUCO All- American accolades in 1977 at Ellsworth Community College. He finished up his playing career with 2 seasons at Utah, where he earned All-WAC honors and was named an honorable-mention All-America at offensive guard.
While at Fresno State, Wagner coached four offensive lineman who were selected in the NFL Draft, plus six others who signed free agent contracts. During his tenure at Nebraska, Wagner coached five offensive lineman who went on to be selected in the NFL Draft, plus 4 others that were free agents. Wagner coached NFL Pro Bowl selections Nebraska’s Carl Nicks (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Fresno State’s Logan Mankins (New England Patriots).
