The B-6 District track and field meet was held in Ogallala on Thursday with extreme weather conditions at times making things challenging on the athletes.

When all was said and done many great showings including the Scottsbluff girls and boys teams taking home 2nd place finishes in the team standings.

Chris Busby set a school record in the 100 meters at 10.72 seconds.

The Scottsbluff boys will be sending a total of 10 athletes to Burke Stadium in Omaha for the state meet.

On the girls side for Scottsbluff, Kaylee Bentley led the way for 8 total athletes qualifying for state. Bentley captured first places in the mile and the two mile.

Yara Garcia (400 meters) and Mana Garcia (100 hurdles) each captured district titles.

For the Gering boys a total of five athletes head to State. Wade Blue won the shot put title, Xavier Arellano finished first in the two mile run, and he also anchored the winning two mile relay team.

On the girls side for Gering, Kaetlyn Todd will compete in three events at the state meet while yesterday Gering got district titles from Elli Winkler in the triple jump and the girls 400 meter relay team.
