Saturday afternoon weather conditions kept the Stanton County Sheriff’s office busy with road closures and accidents.
Hwy 275 was closed for about two hours while vehicles and trucks were cleared that were blocking the highway about three miles West of Pilger due to drifting and zero visibility.
The Sheriff’s office also responded to a one vehicle rollover accident East of Stanton on the Golf Course Road that no one was injured in.
At about 2:40 p.m. the Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle rollover that sent the driver and his five passengers to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The accident occurred on Hwy 15 just south of the Hwy 32 junction when a northbound SUV driven by Anthony Valdez, 47, Platte Center lost control due to road conditions and entered the west ditch and rolled several times coming to rest in a field.
Valdez and his wife were not restrained and their four children ages 11 months to 17 were. All six were transported to the West Point hospital by Clarkson and Howells rescue units.
Travel was not recommended during the time frame due to a Blizzard warning.
