(UPDATE) Pedestrian killed in accident in West Point

(UPDATE) Pedestrian killed in accident in West Point

An 86-year old Brazil man visiting relatives in West Point died in a one-vehicle-pedestrian accident on Highway 275 in West Point around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, Leonard Reeson of Santarem, Para, Brazil was struck in the center lane of north bound traffic by 29-year old Dean Janke of rural Oakland.

Reeson was transported to St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point where he was pronounced dead.

The West Point Police Department, Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, West Point Fire and Rescue, and Nebraska State Patrol all responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by West Point Police, Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Patrol.
