Traffic stop yields arrests for cocaine possession and distribution

Traffic stop yields arrests for cocaine possession and distribution

Four people were arrested Thursday evening on cocaine possession and distribution charges after the controlled substance was found in the vehicle they were riding after it was stopped for speeding.

The stop by an NSP trooper occurred on Highway 88 around 5:45 p.m. and the search was conducted with the help of a Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Deputy after the smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. The search revealed a baggie containing 17 grams of cocaine, other baggies with marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two Colorado license plates and over $800 cash.

The driver and three passengers said they had spent the day hanging out in Gering and were headed to Colorado when they were stopped.

18 year old Lamont Reis and 19 year old Denae Gonzales were arrested for possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver while 19 year old Mateo Velez and 20 year old Alonzo Duarte were arrested
