Three Vehicle Crash In Stanton County Leaves Two Injured

On Tuesday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a three vehicle injury accident near 568th Avenue and U.S. Hwy 275 about 13 miles east of Norfolk.

The accident occurred when an eastbound SUV driven by Paul Weber, 56, of Minnesota was slowing for a turning semi and was struck from behind by a pickup driven by Jeffrey Yosten, 46, of Norfolk.  That impact forced the SUV across the center line into the path of a westbound semi driven by Matthew Elmore, 35, of Oklahoma.

Weber was extricated from his wreckage and taken to FRHS with serious injuries.  Elmore was also transported to FRHS with a leg injury.  Yosten and his teenage son were not injured.

The wreckage completely closed the highway for more than an hour as the scene was cleared and investigated.  Seatbelts were in use by all occupants and that along with airbag deployment is considered a major factor in lessening injuries.

Pilger and Stanton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene along with Stanton County Emergency Management.
