Slick Road Leaves Nebraska Boy Dead

Authorities say a nine-year-old Nebraska boy has died in a crash off icy Interstate 80 in western Iowa.

 

 

 

The accident was reported about 10:30 Sunday night near the town of Walnut. The Iowa State Patrol says the vehicle slid off the icy roadway and rolled onto its passenger side in a ditch.

 

 

 

Joshua Tavares, of Grand Island was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was identified as 40-year-old Jesus Cantero-Perez, also of Grand Island. He and at least four of his passengers were taken to a hospital.
