Scottsbluff Police to focus on safety during holiday enforcement effort

The Scottsbluff Police Department has received a grant from Nebraska Office of Highway Safety to conduct seat belt and other traffic enforcement over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

According to Sergeant Philip Eckerberg, the enforcement effort will start today and continue through Sunday.

Officers will work about 100 hours of overtime during this time period looking for traffic safety violations including seat belt and child safety seat violations.

Eckerberg says a seat belt usage survey conducted this past Sunday showed 71% of vehicle occupants in the city were using seat belts or child safety seats.
