Scotts Bluff County Clerk, Mitchell mayor races too close to call

Only 18% of Scotts Bluff County’s registered voters  turned out to vote Tuesday and the results showed how important one vote truly is.

A four person race to replace long-time County Clerk Vera Dulaney has left the two top candidates separated by only one vote. Pam Schleve-Cassels leads Kelly Sides by one vote, 987-986, after the unofficial final results. it won’t be final until the counting of provisional and absentee ballots.

The Mitchell mayor’s race is even closer, with Dave Curtis finishing in first with 101 votes but incumbent Brian Taylor and Paul Murrell tied with 92 votes to see who will advance as the second candidate in the November general election. Counting of provisional ballots will again be needed. Mitchell voters did overwhelmingly approve continuing their L.B. 840 program and said yes to increasing the city’s restricted fund authority.

Incumbent Scotts Bluff County Surveyor Scott Bosse lost to challenger Dennis Sullivan, who is unopposed in the general election.
