A man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly robbing First Bank of Bancroft earlier in the evening.
According to a press release from Cuming County Dispatch, the man, whose name has not been released, entered the bank at about 5:30 p.m., and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He reportedly fled the scene on an ATV southbound from Bancroft.
The man was later apprehended south of Bancroft after authorities set up a perimeter.
The man, who, according to police scanner, was taken to Pender Hospital by Bancroft Rescue, was hurt attempting to get out of the perimeter on a four-wheeler and on foot. Police Scanner indicated the man was armed with a gun.
Agencies at the scene included the Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, Bancroft Police Department, West Point Police Department, Oakland Police Department, Lyons Police Department, Burt County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, and Bancroft Fire and Rescue on standby.
More information will be released as the investigation continues.
According to reports on the police scanner, there was an attempted or actual bank robbery in Bancroft this afternoon.
No official information has been released.
According to the scanner, the suspect is in custody.
We contacted First Bank of Bancroft at 6:50 this evening to see if they could confirm a possible robbery. The lady who answered said no one wanted to comment and hung up.
Scanner chatter indicated no weapon was shown and two possible suspects were seen in a red-silver pickup or gray-maroon Chevy.
The scanner indicated a SWAT team was possibly being called in assist.
