During a reorganization of the Scottsbluff City Council Monday evening, three new council members were seated, and a new mayor was selected.
Raymond Gonzales will succeed Randy Meininger, who stepped down after serving 12 years in the role as Mayor.
Gonzales received the sole nomination after new council members Jeannie McKerrigan, Nathan Green and Terry Schaub were sworn in.
Gonzales, who has served a total of 18 years as a council member, told KNEB News he feels confident with the three new members coming on board.
He says they are talented people who come from diverse backgrounds. Gonzales says they bring a wealth of knowledge to the council, and are a good thing for the city.
After Gonzales was chosen as the new mayor, Jeannie McKerrigan was unanimously selected to serve as council vice president.
