Preliminary discussions begin on a Mitchell dog park

The city of Mitchell will have a dog park by late next year under a plan supported by a citizens group that was instrumental in starting the Gering dog park.

Stacy Fischer and Kevin Strauch approached the Mitchell city council Tuesday evening about their plans. City administrator Jeff Sprock says the discussions are in the preliminary stages, but Common Ground has a time frame in mind for having a dog park in Mitchell up and running.

Sprock says, Their goal is to finish the Gering dog park and as soon as that is done get started on the Mitchell dog park. They are hoping if they can get something going with the council to have something in by the fall of 2019.”

Sprock says no location has been recommended yet but the group is committed to locating dog parks in North Platte Valley communities.
