Once again this year Safe Ride will be working to make sure people get home safely from Oregon Trail Days.

Co-Chair Kevin Fordyce says volunteers will provide free rides from 10:30 to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, July 14th and July 15th, Fordyce says the Gering Courier has closed so the new base for the operation is the Monument Inn and Suites.

Volunteers need to provide their own cars, gas and insurance and those interested are asked to attend an organizational meeting this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Monument Inn and Suites. Fordyce says with a few volunteers in the past not volunteering again this year, he wants to get a head count and encourages new people to try it.

If you want to volunteer and can’t go to the meeting or want more information call Fordyce at (308) 765-1408.
