WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer a class on the latest apps next month.
Appy Hour! All About Apps (INFO 5230/17F & CRN #60189) will meet Wednesday, November 1, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in Room 212 of the West Point Extended Campus, 202 Anna Stalp Avenue.
In this course, participants will gain hands-on experience in discovering what apps are and how they can be valuable in everyday life. Apps that can keep track of a budget, make a family calendar, compare prices when shopping, keep notes, make travel easier and even teach kids about colors will be covered. Participants should bring their own smartphones, iPads or tablets with them to class.

WEST POINT – A class on hand embroidery will be offered soon at Northeast Community College in West Point.
Hand Embroidery (HOEC 5135/17F & CRN #60416) meets Thursday, November 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the Northeast Community College Extended Campus, 202 Anna Stalp Avenue, Room 201.
In this hands-on introductory class, Instructor Connie Nebuda will walk participants through embroidery basics, from choosing fabrics and floss, to hooping up and crafting ten stitches. Embroidery can be used in a number of different ways, including hand towels, baby quilts, quilt blocks and more.

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer an intermediate-level course on Microsoft Word later this month.
Microsoft Word 2016 – Level 2 (INFO 5320/17F & CRN #60214) will be held Tuesday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northeast Community College Extended Campus, 202 Anna Stalp Avenue, Room 212.
This is the ideal course for those who know the basics of Microsoft Word and want to become more productive with the software. Participants will learn intermediate skills, such as formatting tables, printing labels and envelopes, working with graphics, templates and document revisions.
Cost of the course, with Diann Ballard the instructor, is $60.

NORFOLK – A new course at Northeast Community College will welcome the holiday season with a fun wooden letter decoration craft.
Add Joy to the Holidays (HOEC 5135/17F & CRN #60521) will be held Thursday, October 26, from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 105A of the Weller Building on the Norfolk campus.
In this course, participants will create a round wooden “Joy” or “Noel” decoration to display on a mantel, wall, buffet or front door. They will paint and decorate wooden letter that will be applied to a round wooden disc that will also be painted. Embellishments such as ribbons, ornaments, greenery and more will also be used, and at the end of the night, participants will have a great holiday decoration to keep for themselves to give to someone special.
Cost of the class, with Sue Strathman the instructor, is $39. All supplies are included.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College will offer a special interest class soon for anyone wanting to learn how to crochet.
Basic Crochet for Beginners (HOEC 5130/17F & CRN #60333) will be held three consecutive Mondays, October 30, and November 6 and 13, from 6-8 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC) on the Norfolk campus.
This is a wonderful class for anyone who would like to take up crochet. Participants will learn to read a pattern and get hands on instruction to complete a project. They will leave with the basic skills and knowledge to complete projects of their own. Instructional supplies are included in the cost of the class.

NORFOLK – The Allied Health Department at Northeast Community College in Norfolk has announced several free, one-session workshops for emergency medical service technicians in the area in the coming weeks.
The workshops are offered for three continuing education credits. They will be held from 7-10 p.m., except for the workshop in Wynot, which will be held from 6-9 p.m. All workshops will be conducted in local fire halls.
There is no need to pre-register. The workshops, dates and locations include:

NORFOLK – The Allied Health Department at Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a pediatric life support and first aid class later this month.
Pediatric Basic Life Support and First Aid (HLTH 1730/17F & CRN #14847) will meet Saturday, October 28, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in Room 103 of the Arlo Wirth Building on the Norfolk campus.
The course is designed to prepare students to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on infants and children, relieve a foreign body airway obstruction from infants and children as well as basic first aid. The training meets the requirement of the American Heart Association for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Cost of the class, with Rich Lutz the instructor, is $56.75.

HARTINGTON – Northeast Community College in Hartington will offer a class all about Google’s many applications, beginning soon.
All Things Google (INFO 5215/17F & CRN #60393) will be held Thursday, November 2, from 6-9 p.m., at Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools, 501 S. Broadway Avenue, in Hartington.
Many think of Google as a search engine, but this course will explore the many Google Apps available to users. Students will explore how Google can enhance and organize their lives. Topics will include Google Docs, Earth, Images, Translate, Maps, Calendar and others.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington regional office of Northeast Community College will offer a digital photography class next month.
Digital Photography I (ARTS 5105/17F & CRN #60358) will be held Wednesday, November 1, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hartington City Library, 106 S. Broadway Ave.
Students will learn basic camera function and improve their photography by gaining an understanding of composition and exposure as they take steps toward getting out of auto mode. Students at all levels are encouraged to participate and must bring their own digital cameras.
