The first effort by Morrill County to have all precincts operating with a mail-in ballot appears to have been a big success.
County Clerk Kathy Brandt says 72% of the ballots were back in by this morning.
Brandt said, ” I am very pleased and impressed with the public for voting like they all should. We’re hoping it all goes very smoothly when we open and verify everything and get them counted.”
Brandt says her canvassing board will be in this afternoon getting everything ready so they can count the votes after 7 p.m. this evening.
Brandt says the post offices in Bayard and Bridgeport are holding ballots they have received recently that wouldn’t have made it to her office in time and she will pick those up today. She says if you still have a ballot to be returned, make sure you get it to her office by 7 p.m. so it can be counted.
