Scottsbluff Mayor Randy Meininger shared his family’s difficult past year with an unexpected diagnosis of cancer in his son during today’s annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.

Meininger, who spoke at his last Prayer Breakfast as Mayor, says the community offered the family its support in helping get them through the difficult times.

Meininger says the fact “people care about each other” is one of the things leaders can point to when trying to bring new business to the area.

Meininger also said the planning has been done to allow for the two cities to unite, and it is now up to the leaders and the residents in the communities  to move forward. Meininger has pushed  cooperation between Scottsbluff and Gering during his twelve years as Mayor.

The theme for this year’s breakfast was “Unity”.
