Five Scotts Bluff County businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

Five local businesses- including bars, restaurants, and convenience stores- failed the latest round of compliance checks held by local Scotts Bluff County law enforcement agencies.

On Friday, investigators with the NSP, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and Scottsbluff Police Department conducted alcohol inspections in Scotts Bluff County.

69 businesses were checked, and five of them sold alcohol to a minor. Those businesses are: Chili’s in Scottsbluff, Shots Bar and Grill in Scottsbluff, Cigarette Chain in Scottsbluff, Pony Express Mart in Gering and U Save Mart in Morrill.

Only one business failed to check the minor’s ID, while four of them checked the ID but still sold alcohol to them.

The total non-compliance rate for Scotts Bluff County in this latest alcohol inspection was 7%. Business that fail the alcohol inspections are referred to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor are cited for procuring alcohol for a minor.

This operation was conducted thanks in part to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
