Cloning Scam reported in West Point area

Phone cloning has been reported in the local area.

Phone cloning is a type of scam where scammers get their hands on a lot of phone numbers that make them show up on caller ID when the scammer calls.

In one instance, a West Point resident reported he got a call from Casey’s’ number in West Point saying he ordered pizza, and they needed to confirm the address.

The scammer wouldn’t tell the resident where he was calling from until an address or credit card number was given out. At that point, the resident hung up the phone and called Casey’s, who said they don’t deliver and did not call him. He then called authorities.
