City Approves, Runza, Hike/Bike Trail and Beer

LEXINGTON – The City Council met in chambers on Tuesday and approved development loans for a new group to build a Runza, and and expand Mac’s Creek to open a brewery. The Council also gave approval of a hike/bike trail near the Northwest Development in Lexington.

The city approved “red-leg” funds as a loan to the RRTABS group to turn the old Wendy’s restaurant into a Runza. Red-leg funds were also approved for an expansion at Mac’s Creek vineyards to begin a beer brewing business to go along with their already established winery. The beer will not be available for distribution outside Mac’s Creek facilities. The brewery will be called Liberty Brewing Company, they hope to be open January of 2019.

The Council also discussed opening bids for the construction of a hike/bike trail starting at 20th and A streets. City Manager, Joe Pepplitsch says it will run along the northern edge of an irrigation ditch.

In other business, property at 704 W. 9th has cleared the remonstrances and the deed was awarded to Roberto Franco.
