Lincoln Premium Poultry held an  open house Thursday evening at the Colten Schafersman’s farm in rural Hooper.   Hundreds of people attended to get a look at the first completed chicken farm in the production  chain that will provide fryer chickens for Costco stores across the country.

Schafersman, a sixth generation farmer says he hopes his five-year-old son will continue the  operation in the future.

Around 60,000 birds will arrive at the farm December 18th.  With the high tech, first class computer system installed in his three barns,  Schafersman says he’ll be able to do most of the work with a brother helping out part time.
